This is the face of one of the happiest little girls I know.
This is the face that makes my heart skip a beat.
This is the face that can make any worry or sadness melt away in an instant.
She is my ‘Why’.
She motivates me to work hard; to persevere; to live life to the fullest. She reminds me to laugh more often, and just slow down.
She takes the saying “Stop and smell the roses” very literally. We stop and smell EVERY flower we [ever] see!
She makes me strive to be my best self, as she mimics my every move.
She tells me often, ‘I want to be a momma like you when I grow up.’
In seeing her care for her baby dolls, I know she will surely surpass my momma skills!
What a gigantic, nurturing heart that girl has.
Having flexibility in my career, and a wonderful husband that provides for his family, allows for me to be at home more often than not. What a tremendous blessing!
I often stay up past midnight editing photos, because my daytime hours are spent with her. I am then awoken early the next day by her stinky breath in my face, saying, “Momma, I’m awate…and I have to go potty.” I couldn’t ask for a better start to my day; and that’s the truth!
I get to take her to the zoo on a random Monday morning, when there’s hardly any crowds to fight.
I’m home in the evenings to make her a healthy (most of the time) dinner, and go for a walk to the neighborhood park.
She ends each day, smothered in ‘Goodnight’ kisses, and comforted by a bedtime prayer.
She knows she is loved, but she has no idea how fiercely!
Though the days may seem long, and my head feels as though it might explode if I hear the word ‘Why’ once more…the years are most definitely short.
She will be turning 3 in two weeks, and on her way to preschool in the Fall. How has time flown so quickly?!
If only I could just hit a pause button, and keep her by my side forever…
From what she says now, she’d be cool with that! 🙂
This is Kinley.
